Topic Description : Emergency Preparedness, including Active-Violent Threat
Join Kristi Lachenmeier of HeartLINK Health Services and Brian Hollis, Captain/Paramedic, Tactical Medicine Instructor as they discuss Hot Topics in Emergency Preparedness. We are not talking about how much water to have stored in case “The Big One” hits, we will be discussing trends for reacting to and treating Life-Threatening Medical and Traumatic Emergencies and how this may impact workplace safety programs. We’ll cover Active-Violent Threat (previously called Active Shooter), new trends in CPR – including High Performance CPR, Opiate Overdose, and new(er) options for bleeding control.
Bio: Brian Hollis and Kristi Lachenmeier
Brian Hollis serves as a Fire Captain/Paramedic for a large municipal fire department and has over 20 years of experience in pre-hospital emergency management, tactical medicine and hazardous materials response. He served as a SWAT medic and Reserve Officer for 10 years and created and trained the local law enforcement hemostatic and narcotic overdose protocols. Mr. Hollis has served as a training officer and is affiliate faculty for the AHA, American Heart Association, and NAEMT, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians. He has completed training from the Resuscitation Academy based in Seattle and implemented the cardiac arrest protocol at his current department that resulted in 72% cardiac arrest survival post-implementation.
Kristi has over 20 years of experience working in the healthcare field. She has worked in administration, education, and business development in medical settings such as clinics, surgery centers, hospitals, and wellness centers. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Arizona and her Masters of Public Health Administration from Portland State University. Kristi is Co-owner of HeartLINK Health Services and has found it a wonderful match for her passion to empower people with life-saving knowledge. Kristi continues to work as a community wellness advocate to increase public awareness of CPR and improve access to AEDs.
